Welcome!

In a world where video games are more important than baseball games, our kids need more opportunities to get moving.

We all know that exercise is important for developing strong muscles and bones, but exercise also helps to improve academic performance. Research shows that learning and concentration improve when kids get a chance to move during their school day.

In addition, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have stated that childhood obesity, stress, and lack of opportunities for physical activity were among the Top 10 Health Concerns for U.S. children in 2010, and these issues continue to be a concern.

This website was developed by our team at ACTIVE-ate to be a resource for parents, teachers, principals and administrators. Click on the above tabs to find information on…

·       Why physical activity is so important,
·       What the physical activity guidelines are for children,

·       Where you can access creative programs to incorporate into children’s school programs.

Please join us on our open forum page to read and share your ideas and experiences with others who are working to improve physical activity in schools. By working together, we can help to implement school-based interventions to ensure that our children will lead healthy and intellectually driven lives!
